Tuesday: 24 Iraqis Killed, 77 Wounded

Bombings across central and northern Iraq left a number of casualties. At
least 24 Iraqis were killed and 77 more were wounded in these and other
attacks and raids. No Coalition deaths were reported.
At least one person was killed and 40 more were wounded in a truck bombing
south of Mosul in al-Qayarra. The bomb targeted the home of a local
sheikh, who was wounded in the attack. Police are combing through the
rubble for more casualties and had earlier said that 40 people were
wounded.
A suicide bomber killed four people and wounded 16 more in Mandali. In
what may be the same incident, one policeman was killed and 18 other
people were wounded during a bombing at a Khanaqin checkpoint.
An attack at an Awakening Council (Sahwa) checkpoint left one Sahwa member
dead and another injured. A bomb at the funeral of the member killed two
more Sahwa members and wounded 7 other people, including children.
In Buhriz, three brothers were killed and their father was wounded when a
roadside bomb blasted them.
In Baghdad, three bodies were found dumped. Five people were wounded near
the al-Shurta Tunnel when a bomb targeting a U.S. patrol wounded them
instead. Also, one gunman was arrested and ammunition was confiscated.
A car bomb killed a bodyguard working a Tuz Khormato official.
In Mosul, one policeman was killed and seven others were wounded during a
bombing. A separate roadside bomb killed a policeman.
No casualties were reported after a Kirkuk police station was struck with
Katyusha rockets. The same station was targeted less than 72 hours ago.
In Basra, eight suspects were arrested and two bombs were defused.
Three people were arrested and a hostage was freed in Baquba.
U.S. forces killed six suspects near Balad.
